To preserve, promote and teach South Asian performing arts, music and cultural traditions in the greater Memphis area, and to direct the proceeds of our programs toward humanitarian and educational causes.
A confluence of art and community
In Sanskrit, Kala means art and Sangam means a confluence, the place where rivers meet. Memphis Kala Sangam was founded in 2016 to be that meeting place for South Asian arts in the Mid-South, where artists, families and neighbors come together through music and performance.
Memphis Kala Sangam (MKS) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization registered with the IRS as an arts education organization and based in Germantown, Tennessee. We preserve and promote South Asian performing arts, music and cultural traditions through cultural galas, musical tributes and community events across the greater Memphis area.
Our programs are also how we give back. Proceeds from our cultural events go to humanitarian and educational causes, including support for specialized care schools and community welfare projects.
A Mid-South where South Asian arts thrive from one generation to the next, bringing people of every background together, and where every performance makes a lasting difference beyond the stage.
